Originally from the St. Louis, Missouri area, recent notable performances and awards of Colin Levins have included appearances at the Embassy of Bulgaria (Washington, D.C.), Peabody Conservatory (Baltimore, MD), Kauffman Center for Performing Arts (Kansas City, MO), and various prizewinner concerts.

Mr. Levins has performed throughout the United States and abroad, including solo piano music and chamber ensembles. This includes recent premieres of new solo piano music. Mr. Levins is committed to audience engagement and innovative presentation, exemplified by his project Classical Horizons, a series of informal mini-recitals designed to make classical music more accessible. Mr. Levins also arranges music and composes, with recent piano transcriptions of Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King and Tchaikovsky’s Marche Slave, and Schubert’s String Quartet No. 14, Death and the Maiden. Additionally, he is a liturgical musician, and has played the piano and organ at churches across the United States. His latest role was as the Director of Music Ministry at the First Presbyterian Church of Bordentown (Bordentown, NJ), and he now enjoys freelancing in the DMV area. 

Also a dedicated teacher, his private students have consistently received awards in competitions and are active performers. On top of his private studio, Mr. Levins is currently on the faculty of the International School of Music (Bethesda, MD). Prior to this, he was on the faculty at the New School for Music Study (Kingston, NJ), a division of the Frances Clark Institute, where he also completed the Postgraduate Teaching Fellowship Program. He has previously held teaching positions at the UMKC Conservatory Academy, Interlochen Arts Camp, Warrensburg Community Music Program, and the Wentzville Academy of Art, Music, and Education. A member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), he was active in the KCMTA chapter, where he served on the Executive Board, and formerly served on executive boards of the UCM and UMKC Conservatory’s MTNA collegiate chapters, the latter of which he was Founder and President. This chapter has gone on to give presentations at various venues in the United States. 

Mr. Levins is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the Catholic University of America under a substantial scholarship. Prior to this, he earned a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory with a fully funded Graduate Teaching Assistantship. He also holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Central Missouri, where he graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College with concentrations in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy. Major teachers include Dr. Ivo Kaltchev, Professor Sean Chen, Dr. Mia Kim, and Dr. Jennifer Judd. He completed additional studies with Dr. Francine Kay, Professor Phyllis Lehrer, and Professor Michael Chertock. He participated in festivals such as the Brevard Music Center, the Zodiac Music Festival, and the Pennsylvania State Honors Music Institute. Outside of music, Mr. Levins takes pleasure in photography as a hobby and attempts to be a runner.
